Samsung has ended software support for the Galaxy A42 5G – a four-year-old phone. Depending on where you live, the last update the Galaxy A42 5G received was in June or July of this year.
The Galaxy A42 5G was released in November 2020 with a four-year software update policy. Specifically, the Galaxy A42 received two major Android OS upgrades as well as security updates every three months for the first two years and bi-annual security updates after that.
It's time to say goodbye to the Galaxy A4x series, as the Galaxy A42 is the last phone in the series. Samsung has detailed the December 2024 update. The Galaxy A42 is not mentioned in the list of phones, tablets, watches, and laptops that will get the update in the future.
If you don't like running outdated software, it's time to upgrade your phone. There are plenty of great budget and mid-range Galaxy phones to choose from, and the Galaxy A16 series stands out with its six-year software update policy.
