September started with some good news for Samsung fans. The company has finally started rolling out One UI 6.1.1 – which debuted with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 – to eligible Galaxy devices.

The Galaxy S24 is the first phone to receive One UI 6.1.1. The update will soon be coming to more products. Galaxy phones and tablets launched in 2022 are also eligible for the upgrade.

However, Samsung's official press release may have confused some, as it only mentioned the Galaxy S23 series (including the Galaxy S23 FE), Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and Galaxy Tab S9 series.

The reason could be that Samsung wants to limit the initial rollout to premium Galaxy devices launched in 2023 and 2024. The Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Flip 4, and Galaxy Tab S8 series will still be updated to One UI 6.1.1. However, owners of these devices may have to wait a little longer.

One UI 6.1.1 will not be released to premium Galaxy devices launched before 2023 in the near future

Additionally, these products will not have all the new features of One UI 6.1.1. Samsung has confirmed that they will support Motion Clipper, AI Studio Portrait, Smart Sketch, and the ability to create animated wallpapers from any photo.

Other non-AI capabilities will also be present, including easier file copying and sharing, creating GIFs and stickers from cropped photos, and easier switching between split-screen and pop-up views.

However, it’s still unclear whether 2021’s high-end Galaxy devices will get One UI 6.1.1. If they do, they’ll likely miss out on most of the features and improvements. The same thing happened with One UI 6.1.

We’ll update you as soon as we have more information about Samsung’s One UI 6.1.1 rollout plans, so stay tuned!
