The Galaxy S24, just launched last week, has significant improvements compared to its predecessor. On this new product line, Samsung has made outstanding improvements in cameras. One of them is the ability to take more natural portrait photos than the old version. The smartphone used an innovative AI algorithm to achieve the most natural-looking blur effect possible.
Galaxy S24 is supported by improved AI algorithms to help portrait photos look more natural
According to sources from Samsung engineers on the Community Forum site, the Galaxy S24 has been equipped with an improved AI feature that helps detect subjects and increase depth effects. The blurring effect of foreground objects has also been significantly improved. All of these changes have helped make portrait photos on the Galaxy S24 more realistic as if taken by a DSLR camera.
In addition, it is also applied to portrait video recording mode on Galaxy S24. Videos will be supported by AI, helping to increase frame stabilization and zoom. In 2023, Samsung increased the resolution of portrait videos to 4K with a frame rate of 30 fps. The company is using two cameras on the Galaxy S24 Ultra to measure the distance between the subject and the background, for a more natural blur effect. The Galaxy S24 also supports greater zoom when shooting portrait videos with continuous zoom from 1x to 3x.
To date, Samsung's three latest variants can surpass the pre-order performance of last year's Galaxy S23. With total sales forecast by the end of 2024 of 36 million phones, the Galaxy S24 will become the first phone model to surpass the 30 million mark since 2019 when it launched the Galaxy S10.
