Samsung unveiled One UI 6.1.1 with the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6 last week. Some new features are coming to some older Galaxy products. Including AstroPortrait, which is about to arrive in the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S24 series.
Expert RAW will be updated, bringing AstroPortrait mode to the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S24 series
After announcing the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6, Samsung announced that AstroPortrait shooting mode will soon be available on the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S24 series.
You can use AstroPortrait mode through the Expert RAW application. Furthermore, this feature can be enabled once the device is updated to One UI 6.1.1.
It's worth noting that since Samsung only releases x.1.1 updates for foldable phones and tablets, the mid-year software update for the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S24 series is only assigned as x.1.
Unfortunately, it looks like the new feature will not be released for the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5.
What is AstroPortrait shooting mode?
AstroPortait mode is part of the Expert RAW application. It allows you to take portrait photos with the night sky as the background. Information about this feature was leaked a few weeks ago.
When you use AstroPortrait mode, the exposure time is lengthened so that stars, planets, and other cosmic objects in the sky appear brighter and clearer.
This feature launched with the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6. It looks like AstroPortrait is only available on Galaxy phones running Exynos 2400, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy, or Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Mobile Platform for Galaxy.
