If you've been following us, you might already know that Samsung is gearing up to release another foldable phone before the end of the year. According to previous leaks, this upcoming Samsung product is called the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition and will be Samsung's thinnest foldable phone yet.
The design of the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition has been a mystery so far. However, the first photo of the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition surfaced online a few hours ago, giving us a glimpse of the design of the product.
The most emphasized aspect is the thickness. Previous leaks showed that the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is only 4.9mm thick when fully opened. The newly leaked photo helps confirm this information. The product looks slightly thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold 6.
Protruding camera cluster with sophisticated design
Aside from the thickness, the camera cluster of the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition looks very prominent compared to other recently launched Galaxy devices. This is also quite understandable. There are rumors that the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is equipped with a main camera with a resolution of up to 200MP.
Although not confirmed by the photo above, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition will also be equipped with a 5MP under-screen camera. For comparison, the under-screen cameras of previous foldable phones only have a resolution of 4MP.
Another highlight of the Galaxy Z Fold Edition is the matte metal exterior. However, it is still unclear whether the back of the product is real metal or a glass panel with a metal-like finish underneath.
Additionally, we do not know if this is the only color option for the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition. If the product has additional color options, it is still unclear whether this color option is finished like this โ similar to the Crafted Black option of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 โ or if the other color options will have a similar back.
Overall, the newly leaked photo shows that the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition looks quite similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 6 except for the thickness and camera cluster. It even has a square design like the Galaxy Z Fold 6.
There are rumors that the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition has a wider aspect ratio than the Galaxy Z Fold 6. However, it is difficult to confirm this from the leaked photo.
Unfortunately, Samsung may decide to only sell the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition in certain markets. In other words, you may have to buy it from a hand-carried goods store if you want to get one. The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition may be officially launched later this month.
