At the recent Galaxy Unpacked 2024 event, Samsung announced the high-end Galaxy S24 phone line and launched a new software update One UI 6.1. This version has added some new camera features to the device. Recently, on the Korean-language Community forum, Samsung revealed a series of One UI 6.1 features that will be available on older devices.

Single Take mode has been significantly improved

Single Take mode has been developed by Samsung much better than the previous version. Specifically, this mode allows you to choose optical zoom levels before shooting including 0.6x, 1x, 3x, 5x, and 10x. This change is extremely useful as previously users would not be provided with any lens options.

In addition, it also adds a new feature, the ability to identify pets. This is a very notable improvement, especially for animal lovers because they can capture beautiful moments of their pets.

The new Single Take mode enhancements will be available on the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy Z Fold 4 and 5, Galaxy Z Flip 4 and 5, and Galaxy Tab S9.

Enhance your photos with the new Long Exposure skill

Users of older Galaxy phones also get the new Long-Exposure feature. It lets you get a long-exposure version of an image through the Gallery app's edit suggestions function.

Its mechanism of action is similar to the long exposure feature on iPhone devices. While the iPhone requires Live Photos to be turned on when taking photos, Samsung's original images need to be taken with the Motion Photo feature turned on. This will be easier to get long-exposure images on a Galaxy phone than using Pro mode or a dedicated long-exposure mode.

Samsung confirmed that this long exposure feature will be available on the Galaxy S22 series, S23 series, Z Fold 4 and above, Z Flip 4 and above, Galaxy S23 FE, and Galaxy Tab S9 series.

Turn Moving Photos into 12MP Still Photos

Currently, the Galaxy S24 series allows you to use the AI feature to split a moving photo frame into a still photo with 12MP resolution. The company did not reveal the specific list of devices that will have this upgraded feature installed, except to say it will be supported in One UI 6.1. This suggests that any phone or tablet running One UI 6.1 will have this functionality.

Colorize black and white images

One UI 6.1 brings a new handy colorization feature, the ability to colorize your black and white images. It will allow you to add “estimated” colors to your grayscale or black-and-white images.

This feature will appear on Galaxy S24 as well as devices updated to One UI 6.1. However, we still do not have a specific list of devices that will have this feature.

Edit videos on multiple devices

With the Samsung Studio editing app built into the Galaxy S24 series, users can start editing a video on the phone and continue editing it on another device like a tablet or PC. This feature will also be available on unspecified One UI 6.1 updated devices.

Supports HDR video recording in social apps

The last feature mentioned in today's article is the ability to record HDR videos using cameras built into social applications. Besides, users also can view HDR videos from Samsung cameras on those social applications. Presumably this functionality will require the social app's built-in Photo Gallery, and it's unclear whether it will apply to the app's social feed.

It is expected that this feature will be available on the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and Galaxy Z Fold 5.
