We just reported that the One UI 6.1 update slowed charging speeds by up to 40% on the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold 5, and Galaxy Z Flip 5 yesterday. Even when users use Samsung's 25W charger, the maximum charging capacity still stops at 15W. However, there are some parties like SamCafe who claim that One UI 6.1 is not the culprit. The information provided by the Electron app may be misleading.
Charging capacity is reduced when the phone battery is nearly fully charged. Most screenshots showing 15W charging on the Galaxy S23 series and Galaxy Z Fold 5 show their batteries are more than 70% charged. Therefore, it is possible that One UI 6.1 does not actually cause the charging speed of the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 series to slow down. However, with the following problem, it is difficult to think of anyone other than One UI 6.1 as the culprit.
Reddit user r/oneui has noticed a problem with the fingerprint sensor of the Galaxy S23 series running One UI 6.1:
Is anyone having problems with the fingerprint scanner on the S23 after updating to OneUI 6.1? Occasionally, when I took the phone out of my pocket, pressed the lock button (or double-taped it), and tried to quickly use the fingerprint scanner, nothing happened at first. However, when I lift my finger, the fingerprint animation appears again, and then it works. It seems to be a problem that doesn't happen often. This never happened before updating to 6.1
The next six responses come from Galaxy S23 series owners. They all confirmed that they had the same problem. Another user complained that the fingerprint sensor animation disappeared when he was trying to unlock the device after waking up. Additionally, user r/this-guy95 said his Galaxy S23 FE also had the same problem. He added:
βSince it is optical, when I turn on the screen to put my finger on it, the sensor light flashes on and off. Could unlock normally on my second try.β
Depending on the device, One UI 6.1 brings many great AI features but also seems to have quite a few bugs. To date, Samsung has not issued any response. If Samsung responds, we will report it immediately. So, remember to follow SamCafe regularly!
