Which processor will power the Galaxy S25 series has been a hotly debated topic in recent months. Samsung is rumored to be working on the Exynos 2500 chip for its next-generation Galaxy S. And while I would love to see an Exynos-powered Galaxy S25 myself, that may not be the case.

Qualcomm just unveiled the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor yesterday. The appearance of Samsungโ€™s mobile chief TM Roh implicitly confirmed that the chip will be used in the Galaxy S25 series, at least in the Ultra model. Now, reliable tipster Ice Universe has confirmed that all three models of the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite globally.

The source also claims that neither the Exynos 2500 nor the MediaTek 9400 will be used in any variant of the Galaxy S25. Another reliable account @chunvn8888 also confirmed this. It seems that Samsung also planned to use the Exynos 2500 on the Galaxy Z Flip 7 next year, but it was canceled. The Galaxy S25 FE will also use the Exynos 2400 chip like the Galaxy S24.

This is good news for most Samsung users who are looking forward to Qualcomm's processors on high-end Galaxy phones. In the Galaxy S24 series, the Korean company used the Exynos 2400 on the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ in most countries, except Canada, China, and the US. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy chips worldwide.

It can be said that the Exynos 2400 is a big step forward for Samsung compared to previous generations, but it still cannot catch up with competitors from Apple, MediaTek, and Qualcomm. The Exynos 2500 was expected to be more powerful with Samsung Foundry's second-generation 3nm manufacturing process and new-generation Arm CPU cores. However, for some reason, it was removed from the Galaxy S25 series.

For users, equipping the entire Galaxy S25 series with the Snapdragon 8 Elite is a great thing because this is a very powerful chip. Real-life tests show that its CPU is on par with the Apple A18 Pro, the GPU is even much faster, and it is more power-efficient than Apple's high-end chip. Along with the recently rumored hardware upgrades, the Galaxy S25 will be an extremely great phone and worth looking forward to.
