Samsung has just announced plans to expand Live Translate, the real-time translation feature of Samsung phones, to third-party calling apps on Android. This information was shared in an article about AI by Mr. Won-Joon Choi, Deputy CEO of Samsung.

Specifically, Samsung announced that the Live Translate feature on Galaxy S24 and other Galaxy AI-enabled phone models will soon be expanded to third-party applications. Currently, this feature is only compatible with the default Phone app on Galaxy smartphones and tablets.

Although Samsung hasn't announced which third-party apps will be compatible with Live Translate, it's likely that Meta's Messenger, Google Meet, Telegram, Viber, and WhatsApp will all be supported. When this feature is expanded to third-party applications, users will be able to translate directly when making calls through these applications.

Additionally, Samsung also revealed that it will "optimize" Galaxy AI features for the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6. However, the company has not provided more detailed information about the improvements on this duo.

Overall, expanding Live Translate to third-party applications shows Samsung is making an effort to bring AI closer to users while eliminating language barriers and enhancing the communication experience on the phone.
