Samsung releases 1/2025 update for Galaxy S22 series

Samsung is holding its Galaxy Unpacked event tomorrow to unveil the Galaxy S25 series. While the company is busy preparing for the event, it hasn't abandoned its older products. Samsung has just released a new software update for the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra.

The company is rolling out the January 2025 security update to beef up the security of the Galaxy S22 series. The unlocked variants – with model numbers SM-S901U1, SM-S906U1, and SM-S908U1 – are getting priority. The update for them has baseband versions S901U1UES7EXL8, S906U1UES7EXL8, and S908U1UES7EXL8.

If you haven’t received a notification for the update, you can navigate to Settings → Software update → Download and install to update your device manually.

The Galaxy S22 series is eligible for One UI 7.0 based on Android 15, which brings a lot of new features. Hopefully, the products will be updated to One UI 7.0 shortly after the Galaxy Unpacked event ends.
