Samsung recently rolled out One UI 6.1 to its 2023 premium Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy S23 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold 5. Since this is a major update, there are some bugs that were not detected in the testing process, such as excessive battery drain, fingerprint scanner not working correctly, etc. Samsung quickly acknowledged the problems and promised to fix them soon. Recently, another annoying bug was discovered in One UI 6.1.
Galaxy phones come pre-installed with Secure Folder. Thanks to that, you can store personal information safely. Besides files like photos and documents, you can even move apps to Secure Folder. Although this feature is very useful, not everyone needs it. These people want to remove Secure Folder from their devices.
However, after installing One UI 6.1, many Galaxy S23, Galaxy Fold 5, and Galaxy Flip 5 series owners reported they were unable to remove Secure Folder from their devices. Samsung community forum moderators have admitted that Secure Folder in One UI 6.1 cannot be removed and revealed the reason.
While applying Google's latest privacy policy to One UI 6.1 software, some exceptions from the Secure Folder app did not run properly. We have implemented an application that restricts the deletion of secure folder applications.
A new update for Secure Folder is rolling out soon
Samsung will release a new version of Secure Folder to fix the error. You can check if the update has landed on your device using the Galaxy Store app. Until then, you can still remove the Secure Folder shortcut from the Quick Settings Panel. Additionally, since this error only occurs in version 1.9.10.27 of the app, you can downgrade Secure Folder and then remove it using the Google Play Store.
A major update like One UI 6.1 cannot avoid errors. So it's good to see Samsung actively admitting the bugs and promising to patch them as soon as possible.
