The new leak reveals that the Samsung Galaxy S24 will have satellite emergency messaging capabilities - a feature already available on new iPhone models.
A leak a few months ago said the Galaxy S24 series would have satellite emergency messaging capabilities like the iPhone. Several other reports over the past few weeks have reconfirmed the existence of this feature. Recently, it was reported that the Galaxy S24 series will actually allow you to send emergency messages via satellite.
A new screenshot reveals what Samsung calls Emergency texts via satellite, which will be announced alongside the Galaxy S24 series. Samsung explains that if you call the emergency number when not connected to a mobile network, the device will connect to satellites to send emergency messages.
This new feature may work similarly to that of the iPhone. You can send text messages with your GPS location to emergency response teams so they can find you. This is a great feature when you're stuck in a remote area. The new feature will likely be available on the Galaxy S24 series regardless of whether the device uses Exynos or Snapdragon.
Samsung has developed 5G NTN, which provides two-way satellite communications. This technology meets the standards defined by 3GPP (Release 17) and can be used by Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra. However, this feature may be limited in some markets initially. After that, Samsung will gradually support additional countries in the future.
