The October 2024 security update is being rolled out by Samsung for the Galaxy S21 series. The Galaxy S24 series was updated earlier this month. Since then, the October 2024 security update has been gradually rolling out to the older Galaxy S series.

Recently, Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra owners in the US and some European markets have received the October 2024 security update. The rollout has just begun. Hopefully, other countries and territories will also receive the update soon.

This update can be identified by the baseband version G99xBXXSDGXI5. This is just a regular security update and does not bring any other improvements.

The October security patch fixes 42 security vulnerabilities discovered in the previous software version. Additionally, a vulnerability in several Exynos processors – including the Exynos 2100 inside many Galaxy S21 series units – has also been patched.

To download the latest security update for the Galaxy S21 series, navigate to the Settings app → Software update → Download and install.
