Recently, Zack from the famous YouTube channel JerryRigEverything performed a "torture" test of Samsung's new foldable screen, the Galaxy Z Fold6, to see how its durability has improved compared to the previous generation.

Like previous Galaxy Z Fold phones, the Galaxy Z Fold6 is equipped with two screens, the outer secondary screen being protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2 like the Galaxy S24 series, while the main screen inside is protected by UTG glass.

If you regularly follow the YouTube channel JerryRig Everything, you must be familiar with Zack's durability tests. He started with a scratch-resistant test with the Galaxy Z Fold6 using a box cutter and a screwdriver.

The results showed that the Z Fold6's secondary screen will start to scratch on objects with a hardness of level 6 or higher, while the main screen will be from level 2 (due to being covered with a layer of flexible plastic). Other details such as the aluminum frame are easily scratched by a screwdriver, which is not surprising. The rear camera module is not easily scratched.

In the burn test, the inner screen lasted about 25 seconds under the heat of the lighter before the plastic melted and the pixels turned black.

Next is the dust resistance test. This year, Samsung has upgraded this aspect of the Galaxy Z Fold6, reaching IP48. Zack covered both sides of the hinge and the folding screen with gravel, after opening and closing the device many times. The results showed that the phone can still work well despite making many rattling sounds.

Finally, in the bend test, the Galaxy Z Fold6, despite having a flexible folding hinge, passed JerryRigEverything's test when bending twice without any damage. This shows that Samsung's latest foldable phone is just as durable as traditional smartphones on the market.

The surprising part of this durability test video is that Zack doesn't stop there as he also disassembles the phone, causing some smoke to come out of the display cable. Strangely enough, the phone still works when the inner screen is removed, but Zack continues to poke around until the whole thing is disassembled.
