Since the first generation, the Galaxy Z Fold series has forced users to open the device to register fingerprints. Fortunately, this limitation was eventually removed.
Starting with the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Samsung has adjusted the fingerprint registration process for the product, allowing users to add fingerprints even when the device is closed. The company even updated the animation to reflect this change.
For older generations of Galaxy Z Fold, Samsung requires users to fully open the device to add fingerprints. Samsung's reasons for this are unclear. Regardless, I'm glad to see this limitation removed.
However, there is a new software bug that prevents users from adding fingerprints during the initial device setup.
