One UI 7.0 has a lot of big changes. While Samsung itself hasn't revealed many details about the update so far, there have been plenty of leaks, including screenshots that reveal the new UI.

Samsung is also removing a few features with One UI 7.0. One of them is the Samsung DeX app for Windows.

Standalone DeX functionality is unaffected

Samsung DeX lets users mirror their Galaxy phone's screen to their Windows PC. They can also use the app to drag and drop files seamlessly between devices. This is different from the standalone DeX functionality on phones and tablets, which offers a traditional desktop interface and supports input devices like keyboards and mice.

Android Authority spotted an interesting update on Samsung UK's website. Near the bottom of the DeX page, it says that the DeX app for Windows is being killed off.

“DeX for PC on Windows will not be supported starting with One UI 7. We encourage customers to connect their mobile phones and PCs via Link to Windows.”

Essentially, Samsung is simplifying the services it offers. Microsoft has been working on a similar app for a while now. Link to Windows is compatible not only with Galaxy phones but also with a wide range of Android phones.

This isn’t the only feature that’s being killed off in One UI 7.0. Previous leaks have suggested that One UI 7.0 won’t support downloading Edge Panels on the Galaxy Store. Perhaps Samsung has taken a close look at what’s not being used by many people and killed it.
