Samsung announced the Galaxy S24 FE last week. Those who pre-ordered may have just received their device. Galaxy S24 FE users will see a software update available as soon as they set up their phone.

Galaxy S24 FE's first software update includes October 2024 security patches

Samsung has released the first software update for the Galaxy S24 FE, which has the baseband version S721BXXS2AXI5. The update is rolling out in Africa, Europe, and India. The October 2024 security patches are included. You can see the official changelog in the screenshot below.

If you own a Galaxy S24 FE and live in Africa or Europe, you can manually check if the new software update has arrived on your device by navigating to Settings โ†’ Software update โ†’ Download and install.

The Galaxy S24 FE was launched earlier this week with One UI 6.1 based on Android 14. It is the first Fan Edition product from Samsung to enjoy a seven-year software update policy. In other words, the Galaxy S24 FE will get Android 21 in 2030.

What's new in the Galaxy S24 FE?

The Galaxy S24 FE has a few major improvements over the Galaxy S23 FE. The new generation has a glass back instead of plastic. In addition, the Galaxy S24 FE also features a larger and brighter Dynamic AMOLED 2X display (1900 nits vs 1450 nits), a much faster Exynos 2400e processor, and a larger battery capacity (4700mAh vs 4500mAh).

Although the camera hardware remains the same, only the Galaxy S24 FE can shoot 8K@30fps video thanks to better photo and video processing.
