A leaked sample of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 shows that the device could have a much wider outer screen, similar to a "traditional" phone.

Samsung has solved one of the biggest problems with the design of the Galaxy Z series. The Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5 can both fold flat without leaving a gap between the two halves of the screen. This makes them less bulky when folded. It looks like the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will bring another notable design improvement. A Galaxy Z Fold 6 prototype has been leaked, showing off a much wider outer display.

Shared by tipster Ice Universe on X (formerly known as Twitter), the Galaxy Z Fold 6 prototype looks like a โ€œtraditionalโ€ phone when folded.

The source speculates that the outer screen of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 may have an aspect ratio similar to that of the Galaxy S24 Ultra - which is rumored to switch to a flat screen instead of a curved one. If so, the outer screen of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will be significantly wider than that of its predecessor.

The outer screen of the Galaxy Z Fold5 has an aspect ratio of 23.1:9. Meanwhile, the flat screen of the Galaxy S24 Ultra is rumored to have an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. Many people have been waiting for this to happen for a long time because the elongated screen does not provide a very comfortable user experience.

Samsung may still be improving the design of the Galaxy Z Fold 6.

Note that this isn't the first time we've seen this prototype. In the past, this was considered a prototype of the Galaxy Z Fold5 with many other prototypes with different aspect ratios. Since it was leaked just a day after Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Fold5, it can be seen that the company has been testing multiple aspect ratios for the device's external display.

Perhaps this is some design concept that Samsung has for the Galaxy Z Fold5. Some of them may appear in the final product while others may never see the light of day. Only time will tell whether the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is similar to the leaked prototype or not. After all, it will be almost a year before the product is introduced. There's still plenty of time for Samsung to change its mind.

The company may be focusing most on the Galaxy S24 series right now, not foldable phones. Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra will also have some design changes. As mentioned earlier, the Galaxy S24 Ultra may have a flat display instead of a curved one. And the entire lineup could have flatter frames. You can expect to see more news about these phones in the coming weeks.
