Check out the upcoming One UI 7.0 Galaxy devices

In December 2024, Google announced Identity Check for Android. This feature prevents thieves from changing sensitive settings — such as device or account passwords — on a stolen Android device, even if they know the device’s passcode, by requiring only biometric verification.

On the same day, Samsung announced the Android 15-based One UI 7.0 program for Galaxy devices along with Identity Check. The stable version of One UI 7.0 for the Galaxy S25 series includes the feature.

Recently, Google announced that Identity Check “will be available on eligible Galaxy devices running One UI 7 in the coming weeks.” This statement is confusing because it means two different things.

First, the feature will come to eligible Galaxy devices with One UI 7.0. Second, Google will roll out the feature to eligible One UI 7.0 devices in the coming weeks, even if they run an older OS. I think Google wants to get the message across first.

Either way, Galaxy devices eligible for One UI 7.0 will get an Identity Check soon. However, many other Android device owners are not as lucky, as they may have to wait until later this year.
