Google Photos on Android and iOS has a variety of AI-powered photo/video editing tools, such as the Magic Eraser. However, they're only available to those with a Pixel phone or a Google One subscription.
Last month, Google announced that it will offer AI editing tools to non-Pixel devices as well as non-Google One accounts starting May 15, 2024. According to a few people on Reddit, they were able to access AI editing tools in Google Photos on non-Pixel devices despite not having a Google One subscription.
You can now use the Google Photos Magic Eraser on Samsung devices
Google Photos for Android offers a feature called Magic Eraser, which was only available on the Pixel 8 series. However, this feature has been expanded to other devices. You'll only be able to use the Magic Eraser ten times if you don't sign up for Google One, though.
Additionally, those using older or non-Pixel devices with a free Google account will also have access to many other AI features of Google Photos, including:
- HDR effect
- Lively
- The photo has a cinematic effect
- Blur the background of portrait photos
- Portrait lamp
- Highlight color
- Recommended content for the sky
- Collage type
One UI 6.1 also offers interesting photo/video editing tools
If you're using a Samsung phone or tablet, you can also edit photos/movies on your device using the Gallery app, which has many very useful features powered by Galaxy AI.
