Last year, Qualcomm confirmed that it had signed a multi-year deal with Samsung to supply Snapdragon chips for future high-end Galaxy phones. All variants of last year's Galaxy S23 series used this processor. However, this year, in addition to the Galaxy S24 Ultra, the remaining two variants continue to use the Exynos 2400 chip.
Although the Exynos 2400 has significant performance improvements compared to previous Exynos chips, it is still not as good as the latest Snapdragon version. It will take some time to bring the Exynos chip on par with the Snapdragon processor. However, recently, a rumor appeared claiming that Samsung will completely use Exynos chips on the Galaxy S25 series.
Will Galaxy S25 only use Exynos chips worldwide?
All three variants of the S25 series including Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra launched next year will all use Exynos processors. The company still honors its agreement with Qualcomm by using Snapdragon chips on the Galaxy Z Fold line launched next year. Meanwhile, the next generation Galaxy A series phones will still use Exynos and MediaTek chips.
It is likely that Samsung will exclusively use the Exynos 2500 chip on all three variants of the Galaxy S25 series. Switching to the entire Exynos chip line probably won't be as bad as before with the Exynos 2500 chip. This new generation processor is very hopeful for the following four reasons:
Multiple reports suggest that Samsung has established a separate team focused on optimizing its next-generation in-house Exynos chip.
This time, the company is expected to produce next-generation Exynos chips specifically for Galaxy phones.
The upcoming flagship Exynos chip will use Samsung Foundry's second-generation 3nm fabrication process.
Arm's Cortex-X5 CPU core is expected to be faster than the CPU in Apple's A/M chip line.
These changes are enough to bring major improvements to the next-generation Exynos chip. However, rumors that Samsung will exclusively use Exynos chips on its next-generation high-end phones are still difficult to believe.
