The Samsung Developer Conference 2024 just took place in San Jose, California, and the company made a few notable announcements.

Samsung has a diverse product line with many different software nomenclatures. This is something you should avoid when building an ecosystem because it makes things look unnecessarily messy. Samsung is now correcting this mistake by announcing that the software experience across its different product lines will be unified under the One UI branding next year.

You'll find One UI across Samsung's product lines in the future

Samsung's phone software has gone through a few name changes. However, Samsung has stuck with the One UI name since 2018.

Other product lines – such as televisions – use software with different names, although it would be better for Samsung if all of its software was called One UI, especially when Samsung is focusing on building a seamless ecosystem.

Samsung confirmed at SDC 2024 that it will call its software across its main product lines – including phones, TVs, and home appliances – One UI starting in 2025. This will make the Samsung ecosystem look more seamless. It also reiterated that many Galaxy phones will get seven OS updates.

Artificial intelligence is present in many of the features Samsung is creating. Finally, the company reiterated its commitment to “AI for good,” assuring that the new technology will be used to revolutionize the user experience, solve societal challenges, and “create a better world for future generations.”
