Although AMOLED displays have come a long way since the bad burn-in days, they still require precautions. So it's puzzling that Samsung's One UI 6.0 update breaks image retention prevention on many devices. Fortunately, the upcoming update for the Galaxy S23 series can fix this.

As soon as One UI 6.0 started reaching users, many discovered that the burn-in prevention feature had somewhat disappeared from some devices, including the Galaxy S23 series. This feature slightly changes the position of interface elements to avoid them staying in one place for too long.

It's been several months since this issue was discovered. Samsung has released a few updates since then. However, the above problem has not yet been resolved. Fortunately, this may soon change.

On Samsung's community forum in Korea, a manager responded to a string of user complaints about the issue. Apparently, Samsung is aware of the issue and a fix is coming. According to the manager, the update may be distributed this month. However, the exact time has not yet been revealed. We will update you as more information becomes available.

Some users say Samsung support said that the fix will be rolled out with the January 2024 security patch.
