It's November, but the first beta of One UI 7.0 is nowhere to be seen. However, One UI 8.0 could be released much earlier next year, as Google has confirmed that Android 16 will be released in the first half of 2025.
Android 16 will be released in Q2 2025, three months earlier than previously
Google has confirmed that Android 16 will be released in Q2 2025, three months earlier than previously. More specifically, the stable version of Android 16 will be released in June 2025. Therefore, Samsung could release One UI 8.0 in Q3 2025.
In recent years, the Galaxy Z series has been launched in Q3. So it’s likely that next year’s Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7 will ship with Android 16.
In fact, Google has confirmed that there will be two Android releases next year. The first major update will arrive in Q2 2025, while the second will arrive in Q4 to “update features, optimizations, and bug fixes since the major release.”
It’s unclear whether Google will call the second release Android 16.1 or Android 16.5. Either way, Samsung could release One UI 8.1 or One UI 8.1.1 before 2025 ends.
