A few days ago, Samsung released One UI 6.1 for the Galaxy S23 series. While the update brings some new AI features and UI improvements, a few bugs have arisen. Some owners of Galaxy S23 series devices are having problems with their device's fingerprint sensor after the update. Samsung has also acknowledged this problem.
Samsung will soon fix the fingerprint sensor error on the Galaxy S23 series running One UI 6.1
On Samsung's community forum (via @tarunvats33), they said they were aware of fingerprint sensor-related issues occurring on some Galaxy S23 series devices after upgrading to One UI 6.1. The company is planning to fix the error with a software update in the near future. Although Samsung did not reveal the exact time frame, the above error could be fixed with the April 2024 update.
Currently, only the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and Galaxy Z Fold 5 receive the April 2024 update. The Galaxy S23 series may be available in the next few days.
What problems did the Galaxy S23 series have with the fingerprint sensor?
Some users have reported that when they wake the device by pressing the Side key or double-tapping the screen, the fingerprint reader icon does not appear.
Even when the user tries to place their finger where the fingerprint icon should be displayed, the device is still not unlocked. When they lift their finger, the fingerprint icon finally appears on the screen and they can use their fingerprint to unlock the device. This error has disappointed many users of the Galaxy S23 series.
