The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is Qualcomm's next flagship processor and could power the Galaxy S25 Ultra. It will use Qualcomm's custom CPU cores called Oryon for a massive performance boost. A new leak has shed light on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4's full specs, giving us an idea of how the Galaxy S25 Ultra will perform.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 Specifications

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will come in two variants: SM8750 and SM8750P. SmartPrix has posted a photo revealing the processor's features and specs. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is built on a 3nm process (likely by TSMC) and features eight CPU cores, including two high-performance cores clocked at 4GHz and six power-efficient cores clocked at 2.8GHz. A recent report revealed that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 could offer 35% better single-core performance and 30% better multi-core performance.

In addition, Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship processor features the Adreno 830 GPU, which could be Qualcomm’s fastest GPU ever.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 also features a new Spectra 8 image signal processor (ISP) to process captured images better. Qualcomm says the new ISP offers “the ultimate photography and videography experience.” The Adreno 8 VPU offers 4K video decoding and encoding. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4’s Adreno DPU supports 4K resolution displays.

The Low Power AI subsystem inside the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 features a dedicated DSP and eNPU for audio streaming, camera, sensors, and always-on contextual data for advanced features. The NPU also provides generative AI processing.

Qualcomm's upcoming flagship processor also has an integrated 5G modem that supports both mmWave and sub-6GHz. In addition, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 also supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and UWB. It is compatible with LPDDR5X DRAM and UFS 4.0 memory. Thanks to the Qualcomm Aqstic system, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 supports high-quality wireless audio playback.

Expected performance of the Galaxy S25 Ultra

It is expected that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will be used for the Galaxy S25 Ultra globally. It will come with up to 16GB of memory and 256GB/512GB/1TB of storage.

If so, the Galaxy S25 Ultra could have a CPU that is 30%-35% more powerful than its predecessor. The GPU could also be upgraded in terms of performance and support AI-powered frame generation in games to increase FPS.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ could use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 in China, Canada, and the US, while the rest will use the Exynos 2500, which Samsung officially named a few weeks ago. This processor is manufactured on Samsung Foundry's 3nm process and could get a big upgrade in performance and power efficiency.
