Samsung is known for having the largest smartphone portfolio in the market, although the company has been cutting back in recent years. It is also a leader in software support, with regular updates for its wide range of devices.

Currently, more than 130 Galaxy smartphones and tablets receive monthly, quarterly, or bi-annual updates, depending on the product segment and age. However, like other manufacturers, Samsung will stop supporting software updates for some devices after a certain period of time.

Starting this month, Samsung will officially stop releasing updates for three devices: the Galaxy A02s, Galaxy A12, and W21 5G, the China-only version of the Galaxy Z Fold 2. In fact, the international Galaxy Z Fold 2 stopped receiving software updates last October.

All three devices were launched in late 2020 or early 2021 and have received four years of continuous software support. As a flagship, the W21 5G has received three major OS updates, including Android 13. Meanwhile, the entry-level Galaxy A02s and Galaxy A12 have been upgraded to Android 12 with One UI 4.1.

Software support is inevitable as devices age. However, with a four-year update cycle, Samsung has maintained its position as one of the best long-term software support providers in the market, providing users with peace of mind and a stable experience.
