Samsung Galaxy S25 gets two new video features thanks to One UI 7

While the Galaxy S25 series doesn't get any hardware upgrades on the camera front, save for the 50MP ultra-wide camera on the Galaxy S25 Ultra, Samsung has made some notable improvements on the software front. One of the highlights is the new features that appear in the Camera Assistant app.

The Galaxy S25 series now supports two new video features via Good Lock's Camera Assistant module: HDR10+ conversion and the ability to save videos to external storage. As shown in the screenshot below, users can enable or disable HDR10+ video recording right in Camera Assistant. However, for this feature to work, users need to enable HDR in the Advanced Video Options menu of the default Camera app.

HDR10+ optimizes the color and contrast of videos shot in Pro Video and Video modes in the Galaxy S25's default camera app. While the Galaxy S24 only shoots 8-bit SDR video, the Galaxy S25 upgrades it to 10-bit HDR video (HLG format), delivering superior image quality.

In addition, the Galaxy S25 series also supports the ability to save videos directly to an external storage device via the USB Type-C port. This feature works on Video, Pro Video, Portrait Video, Slow Motion, and Hyperlapse modes in the default camera app.

While these two features are currently limited to the Galaxy S25 series, users can expect them to be available on other Galaxy devices in the future.
