Some Galaxy S23 users have reported degraded audio quality after updating their devices to One UI 6.1.1. Samsung has now acknowledged the issue and said it is working on a fix.
One UI 6.1.1 update downgrades Dolby Atmos audio quality on the Galaxy S23 series
According to many users, the Galaxy S23 series has some audio-related issues after upgrading to One UI 6.1.1. The audio now sounds “bland and flat” instead of “clear and powerful” like before.
At first, when many people contacted the company through the Samsung Members app, the company denied that the issue existed. However, after enough users complained, Samsung contacted the users again and acknowledged the issue.
The audio quality was reportedly affected by the Dolby Atmos Library, which was updated from version 3.10 to version 3.12 by Dolby. The change was intended to improve 360 Audio but also affected other aspects of the audio. The support team said that those who were used to the previous sound quality may find the new sound quality to be inferior.
Samsung's software support team said that they have reported the issue to Dolby. An update will be released to address users' concerns.
Many hoped that the Dolby Atmos Library would be updated with the November 2024 security update. However, that did not happen. It is still unclear when the issue will be resolved.
