One UI 6.1.1 could be the fastest One UI update to roll out globally. For those unaware, software updates for Galaxy devices are usually rolled out in stages. They are released in a few markets first, and then gradually rolled out globally.
Whether it’s a minor security update or a major OS update, it can take weeks for them to reach all the devices in circulation. Most people want to update their Galaxy devices to the latest software version as soon as possible. However, Samsung is quite slow and patient.
One UI 6.1.1 has reached a lot of countries in a short time
However, One UI 6.1.1 is an exception. While the initial phase was limited to South Korea, Samsung released the update globally less than a week later. More importantly, the company pushed One UI 6.1.1 to multiple countries and regions on the same day.
It’s not uncommon for an update to roll out to multiple countries simultaneously for a Galaxy device. However, the number of countries that receive the update on the same day is quite low. For One UI 6.1.1, Samsung has broken this longstanding tradition.
However, nothing is perfect. Just like One UI 6.1, One UI 6.1.1 requires Samsung to spend more time on software development than One UI updates over the past few years. Since the reason may be related to Galaxy AI, this could be the norm for future One UI updates.
It’s possible that Samsung fans would be willing to overlook the longer development cycle if Samsung shortens the time it takes to roll out updates to everyone. Hopefully, One UI 6.1.1 will set a new standard that Samsung will use for future updates, including the upcoming One UI 7.0.
