Samsung has paused the rollout of One UI 6.1.1 for the Galaxy S23 Ultra. This is due to a camera bug that causes ghosting in photos taken at zoom levels between 16x and 19.9x.
Samsung is working on a fix and will release a patch soon. The Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+ are not affected. If you own either of these phones, you can still download the new software by navigating to the Settings app โ Software update โ Download and install.
Fortunately, the affected zoom range is in areas that users don't typically use. However, if you're running One UI 6.1.1 and are affected by the bug, there's a temporary workaround. You'll need to head to the Camera Settings screen, tap Smart Optimization, and switch to the Medium option as shown in the screenshot below.
The above temporary fix may slightly reduce the quality of your photos, so you may not want to do this unless you regularly shoot between 16x and 19.9x.
There is another option. You can use Samsung's Expert RAW, which is not affected by the ghosting bug. You can access Expert RAW directly from the Camera app by tapping the MORE button on the screen.
