Users of eligible Galaxy devices have mostly received One UI 6.0. Samsung is developing One UI 6.1 to launch with the Galaxy S24 next week. This is an exciting update with lots of AI features, but will they be released for older devices?
Although there is no official information yet, it seems that Samsung is working to bring these new AI features to the Galaxy S23, Galaxy Z Fold 5, and Galaxy Z Flip 5. These may not be the only devices. Most receive these features, however, some features may be limited for different devices, depending on the device's update.
With the Galaxy S24, Samsung introduces a new concept called Galaxy AI, which includes all the AI features such as live translation over calls, moving or removing objects from videos, expanding photos with additional details by AI, and more. It should be noted that the Galaxy S24 uses the latest processor (Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy or Exynos 2400) that supports superior AI processing capabilities, while older devices may have this limitation. So it isn't easy to expect all the new AI features to come to older devices.
Samsung appears to want to release One UI 6.1 to eligible Galaxy devices as soon as Q1 2024, however, no specific date was given. This is a major update, so the company may take more time to deploy after the Galaxy S24 launches. SamCafe will update as soon as there is new information. We hope readers will pay attention and follow along.
