Chinese users are criticizing Samsung over the green stripe screen issue on the Galaxy S21 series. Many here are angry that they have to pay for repairs while Samsung India is offering free screen replacements for those who encounter the issue.
China's Jimu News reported that some Galaxy S21 users in the country are facing the green stripe screen issue. While Samsung India replaces the screen for free even if the product is out of warranty, Chinese consumers have to open their wallets to get the product repaired.
The report said that a Chinese consumer bought the Galaxy S21 in December 2021 for ¥3,789. The product worked normally for two years but a green stripe suddenly appeared on the screen despite there being no hardware damage.
When the customer visited a Samsung service center on September 3, she was told that the product was no longer under warranty, so she had to spend ≈¥1000 to replace the screen.
The source searched online and concluded that many Galaxy S21 series users in China had encountered the green screen error in recent years, with repair costs ranging from hundreds to over a thousand yuan.
After discovering Samsung India's policy, Galaxy S21 series owners asked Samsung China to introduce a similar policy. Although Samsung's market share in China is negligible, the company should not discriminate to bolster its image.
Samsung is doing very well in India with many satisfied customers even when encountering the green screen error. Samsung India is offering free screen replacement services for the Galaxy S21 series even if the device is no longer under warranty.
