According to a new report from Business Korea, Samsung plans to use the 3nm process for the next high-end Exynos processor, which will be equipped with the Galaxy S25 series, more specifically the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+.
The Galaxy S24 series uses Qualcomm or Samsung processors depending on the market. The Galaxy S24 Ultra is only equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Mobile Platform for Galaxy globally.
There were rumors that Samsung would launch a "single" processor for the Galaxy S series two years ago. However, new information has refuted this.
It is predicted that Samsung's Exynos 2500 is capable of surpassing Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 in "aspects such as power saving capabilities".
Qualcomm currently does not have any processors manufactured on the 3nm process. However, this will soon change. Meanwhile, MediaTek aims to launch 3nm processors through TSMC starting this year.
Samsung first announced that it will begin producing microchips on the 3nm process in 2022, with energy consumption reduced by up to 45% compared to the 5nm process. Since then, Samsung has yet to release any processor based on the 3nm process. However, there is increasing evidence that the Galaxy Watch 7 series will be equipped with a processor that uses this process.
