The 12GB RAM version has only appeared on high-end Samsung phones. However, multiple new benchmark entries of the Galaxy A55 have appeared on Geekbench revealing that the mid-range device could have a variant with 12GB RAM, offering better multitasking capabilities.
Galaxy A55 has 12GB RAM, an Exynos 1480 chip, and AMD graphics
Galaxy A55 appeared on Geekbench with model number SM-A556E. The phone runs Android 14 operating system and is powered by the Exynos 1480 chip. This is Samsung's first mid-range chip with graphics provided by AMD.
It's unclear why Samsung decided to provide such a large amount of RAM for a mid-range product, but this is a good sign for users. The combination of 12GB RAM and Exynos 1480 processor will give the phone strong performance.
It will also help improve the smoothness of the user interface while reducing stuttering, especially when the device is used at its peak. Additionally, it reduces the operating system's reliance on virtual memory or the RAM Plus feature to keep background apps from shutting down too quickly.
If it really does provide more RAM capacity for the Galaxy A55, Samsung will need to take it step by step and continue to upgrade the memory for the next model. However, it cannot be ruled out that the 12GB RAM variant will not be released or even only appear in some markets. It may also not be available from the first day of release as these benchmark entries have appeared recently and the official launch date of the Galaxy A55 is not too far away.
