Samsung has apparently been working on its mid-range phone for next year for a while now. The Galaxy A36 has finally surfaced, with processor, memory, and OS details revealed.
Galaxy A36 to Run Android 15 Out of the Box
A Samsung smartphone with the model number SM-A366B has appeared in the Geekbench database. Based on the model number, it appears to be the Galaxy A36 with 5G connectivity.
As you can see in the screenshot below, it runs Android 15 (most likely One UI 7.0) out of the box. The Galaxy A36 has a motherboard codenamed Parrot. It appears to have 6GB of memory. However, the Galaxy A36 could also have an 8GB memory option.
The Galaxy A36's processor has four high-performance CPU cores clocked at 2.4GHz and four power-efficient CPU cores clocked at 1.8GHz. It is accompanied by an Adreno 710 GPU. So, this could be Qualcomm's Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 or Snapdragon 7s Gen 2. Both are manufactured using Samsung Foundry's 4nm (4LPX) process.
Thanks to the 4nm process, the Galaxy A36 could have a longer battery life than the Galaxy A35, which uses a processor manufactured on the 5nm process. However, based on the information we have about the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, the performance of the Galaxy A36 will be similar to the Galaxy A35.
Since the Galaxy A16 5G was launched earlier this week with a promise of six years of updates, it is likely that the Galaxy A36 will also receive OS updates for six years. If so, Android 21 will be the final official OS version of the product.
Galaxy A36 Expected Specifications
While there is no other information about the Galaxy A36, Samsung may improve the display and camera of the product. The phone may be equipped with a 6.6โ Dynamic AMOLED 2x display with a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz similar to the Galaxy A35. Additionally, the company may increase the brightness of the display and thin the four bezels.
The camera may also be improved. The Galaxy A36 may have a 32MP front camera and a 12MP ultra-wide camera similar to the Galaxy A55. Since the Galaxy A35 has a stereo speaker system, IP67 dust and water resistance, and a 5000mAh battery with a maximum charging capacity of 25W, the Galaxy A36 may also have similar configurations.
