Since Samsung started releasing edge-to-edge phones, it has offered two options for navigating Android: touch keys and a gesture system. Later, the company added Google's gesture system. However, with One UI 6.1, Samsung removed its own gesture navigation system, which upset some users. Luckily, Samsung is reviving this gesture system.

After some users asked for Samsung's gesture system to be revived, the company acted quickly. Samsung will bring this feature back to One UI 6.1 with an update to NavStar, which is a module of the Good Lock application suite. The update has not yet been released. The company also did not reveal any timeline.

It seems Samsung doesn't want its gesture navigation system to be part of One UI's core user interface anymore. Therefore, they decided to switch it to NavStar. So in the future, if anyone wants to use Samsung's old gesture navigation system, they will have to install the Good Lock app and NavStar module from the Galaxy Store.

A few days ago, Samsung released an update to add the ability to hide navigation hints for NavStar. By default, this gesture suggestion is displayed and takes up a portion of the screen. Some people don't like that.
