Samsung is developing a new mid-range processor that could be equipped for the Galaxy A56 next year. According to GalaxyClub, the new processor has model number S5E8855 and the codename "Santa".
Galaxy A55 – launched in March this year – is equipped with Exynos 1480. This processor is codenamed “Rose” and model number S5E8845. Therefore, unless Samsung changes the way it assigns model numbers to Exynos, the S5E8855 could be the Exynos 1580.
The product is expected to appear in the Galaxy A56 next year. Unfortunately, except for the model number and codename, the source did not reveal any further details about the new processor, after all, the Galaxy A55 was only launched three months ago.
We only know the code name and model number of Exynos 1580
The codename “Santa” is quite interesting. However, just like that, we cannot know what Exynos 1580 will bring to users. The Exynos 1480 is a great processor with many major upgrades, including a mid-range AMD GPU for the first time on mobile. Therefore, we do not think the Exynos 1580 will have any significant upgrades.
However, it would be great if Samsung focused on improving the NPU performance of the Exynos 1480. If so, the company could bring Galaxy AI down to mid-range devices.
It's still possible that Samsung only wants to equip Galaxy AI for high-end devices within a year or two. However, I will be happy if this judgment is wrong.
We will report as soon as we have more information about the Exynos 1580 or Galaxy A56. Therefore, remember to visit us often! If you are looking to buy a mid-range phone, the Galaxy A55 is an option worth considering.
