The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is a great choice for those who expect a high-quality camera system on a foldable phone, something the Galaxy Z Fold6 doesn't do.

Samsung is preparing to launch a new ultra-thin foldable phone. However, it won't be called the Galaxy Z Fold6 Slim as previously leaked but will be called the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition. Not only is this device incredibly thin, but it can also greatly upgrade its photography capabilities, including a selfie camera hidden under the screen.

The reputable account on the social network X, who also confirmed the official name of Samsung's upcoming product, Evan Blass, posted an article implying that the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition will have a 200MP camera. Previously, many users expected the Galaxy Z Fold6 to have a high-resolution image sensor like the flagship S series models, but that didn't happen.

The appearance of the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition could somewhat narrow the gap in photography capabilities between foldable phones and regular high-end smartphones. The latest Galaxy Z Fold6 model also only has a 50MP camera, much lower than the 200MP resolution on the Galaxy S24 Ultra despite its higher price.

If this becomes true, Samsung will open up the hope of upgrading more powerful hardware for its foldable devices. This also shows that the Galaxy Z Fold7 launched next year is also worth looking forward to.

The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is expected to launch in September in Korea, and October in China. These may be the only two markets where this device is available.
