Samsung Galaxy A51 is receiving One UI 5.1.1 update with October 2023 security patch.
The Galaxy A51 is one of Samsung's first phone models to be shipped with Android 10. Later, the product was included in the list of devices to receive three major operating system upgrades from Samsung. Therefore, Android 13 (One UI 5.0) is the last official Android version that the Galaxy A51 received. Earlier this year, the product was updated to One UI 5.1.
Currently, the Galaxy A51 only receives security updates twice a year. Therefore, the newly released update may be the last update the product receives before Samsung stops supporting the product. However, Samsung has one last surprise for Galaxy A51 owners. The company is upgrading the device to One UI 5.1.1.
Unsurprisingly, very few One UI 5.1.1 features are available on the Galaxy A51. According to the changelog provided by Verizon, once the update is installed, the Call Background selection will be moved to Contact Details in the Phone and Contacts apps. Additionally, when you share images in the default Messages app, you'll see conversations and contact cards at the top for quick and easy access.
In addition to One UI 5.1.1, the new update also comes with the October 2023 security patch. The update is currently rolling out in the US and some countries in Europe. You can download it over the air by accessing the Software Update screen from the Settings app.
The One UI version number will not change from 5.1 to 5.1.1 after you install the update for Galaxy A51. You should know that version x.1.1 is only displayed on foldable phone models.
