Your Files app has been updated with One UI 6.0 to change file size calculation from binary to decimal.

Samsung is rolling out One UI 6.0 (based on Android 14) to eligible Galaxy devices. Recently, the company informed users about a big change. One UI 6.0 changes the way your Files app calculates file sizes.

Through the Samsung Members app, the company informed users that the Your Files app on One UI 6.0 calculates file sizes in decimal. Accordingly: 1 GB = 1000 × 1000 × 1000 B = 1,000,000,000 B.

With One UI 5.1 and earlier, your Files app calculates file sizes in binary (1 GB = 1024 × 1024 × 1024 B = 1,073,741,824 B). Samsung said this change was made to avoid confusion and meet customer requests.

Additionally, Samsung notes that there will be differences in file sizes displayed in Your Files and other applications that use the binary system.
