The lack of major hardware improvements on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 isn't the only criticism Samsung is facing. Some owners are reporting that the paint on their phones is peeling off in some places. After receiving the information, Samsung claimed that third-party chargers were the culprit.

Samsung Claims Third-Party Chargers Are the Cause of the Peeling Paint Issue on the Galaxy Z Fold 6

On its official website, Samsung has issued a statement regarding the peeling paint issue on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 for the Canadian, UK, and UAE markets. According to the official website, the issue is not due to the paint process of the Galaxy Z Fold 6, but rather the third-party chargers.

Samsung claims that improperly grounded third-party super-fast chargers can affect the anodized finish of the Galaxy Z Fold 6, causing the paint to separate.

More specifically, Samsung said that the current leakage occurs when users hold the device while using a third-party charger. The company also stated that electric muscle stimulators powered by the phone can also cause paint-related issues because the current leakage can affect the anodizing process.

Samsung suggests that users use an official Samsung charger or a Qi wireless charging pad from a reputable brand. However, mid-range and high-end Galaxy phones no longer come with a charger.

In addition, Samsung's use of unclear language has confused many people. Although it mainly refers to third-party chargers, Samsung also mentions Qi wireless charging pads, which use a completely different charging method (electromagnetic induction). Furthermore, such an issue has never occurred on any other Samsung Galaxy phone model. Why is only the Galaxy Z Fold 6 affected?

It’s hard to know for sure what caused the paint to peel off on the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Either way, this is the first time Samsung has gone matte on a foldable phone. The company is clearly defending itself, saying that all Samsung products undergo rigorous testing before being released to the market.
