During the launch event of the high-end Galaxy S24 phone line, Samsung introduced One UI 6.1 software with many interesting features, including the Photo Ambient feature - Ambient wallpaper. It overlays your phone's wallpaper with weather effects that are happening in your area. Recently, the company released the Vision Core update to help improve the lock screen wallpaper effect, giving it a more realistic feel.

The Vision Core update brings more realistic weather effects to the lock screen wallpaper

Samsung has released a major update to its Vision Core app. Version 1.0.14.0 of the app is quite large in size, around 1.2GB, and is available through the Galaxy Store. While the changelog only says it's a bug fix, it's actually improving the realism of the weather effects on the lock screen wallpaper. For example, raindrops now have a splash effect on objects and people in the image, or snowflakes fall in front and behind people appearing in the background.

Currently, only three variants of the Galaxy S24 have this interesting feature. It may not be released for the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Tab S9 series, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and Galaxy Z Fold 5 in the upcoming One UI 6.1 update. It is known that these devices will start receiving new software updates from tomorrow.

How to enable lock screen wallpaper weather effects on Galaxy S24

To use the Photo Ambient feature on the Galaxy S24 series, go to the Settings app > Advanced features > Labs > Photo Ambient Wallpaper > then press the button to activate the effect. As this is a Labs feature, weather effects may not function consistently at all times. However, we didn't notice any major issues with this feature.
