Samsung introduced several new types of OLED displays at CES 2024, including brighter computer and TV screens, 360° folding screens for phones, curved and rollable screens for cars, and even a Touch screen for wireless headphone charging box.
Samsung's OLED touch screen may land on Galaxy Buds in the future
Samsung Display showed off a prototype of a small round OLED panel that can fit inside the headphone's charging case. Called Earbuds OLED Case, this OLED panel can display information such as the battery level of the headset and charging case, sound mode, and noise-canceling mode. Many functions can be tweaked right from the charging case instead of having to use software on a device paired with the headphones. You can also switch to another device right from the screen on the charging box. The charging case now also displays the watch face found on the Galaxy Watch line.
Currently, the headset's advanced functions and settings can only be adjusted through the software installed on the connected device. In other words, you need to have another device, such as a phone. However, as headphone charging cases start to be equipped with screens like this, they can be used with a wider variety of products, even if they are not from Samsung.
