One UI 6.1 was launched with the Galaxy S24 series. From yesterday, Samsung began rolling out new software to many high-end phone and tablet models. One of the standout new features is the versatile Search Area โ which allows you to learn about anything on the screen by drawing a circle around it. Even though it was just announced, Google has already upgraded this feature. The company announced that the versatile Search Zone will soon be able to translate text on the screen.
You will have to hold down the Home key or Gesture Suggestion to activate the Multi-function Search area and then tap the Google Translate icon. Multi-function Search Zone then automatically detects the language of the text on the screen and translates it to your preferred language. In other words, you don't need to draw a circle around the text you want to translate. For example, when you open a PDF file of an English menu, you can summon the multi-function Search area, tap the Google Translate icon, and the menu content will be translated into English.
Currently, if you want to translate what's on your screen, you have to take a screenshot, go to Google Translate, and select the image. The app will then detect the language in the image and translate the content into your preferred language. As you can see, this process requires you to not only take screenshots but also switch between apps. With the versatile Search Area, everything will be greatly simplified.
