Less than half a year since the Galaxy S24 series officially launched, there have been quite a few rumors about the Galaxy S25 posted. This year, Samsung used two different processors in parallel on the Galaxy S models. While the Galaxy S24 Ultra uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip in all markets, in some regions, the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ are equipped with Exynos 2400.
However, this may change next year. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes that Samsung will return to exclusively using Snapdragon chips on the Galaxy S25 series.
This is not the first time the Korean company has used solely Qualcomm chipsets for all Galaxy S models. The Galaxy S23 series launched in 2023 is also equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset globally. However, things are back to normal this year as the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ are still available in almost every region with Exynos processors. Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip is only available in key markets such as the US, Canada, China, Taiwan and Japan.
According to Ming-Chi Kuo, "Qualcomm will likely be the sole SoC supplier for the Galaxy S25 series." But this is not Samsung's original intention. The cause is said to be due to the company's chip production problems. There are reports that Samsung is not using the Exynos 2500 chip because the output from the 3nm manufacturing process is lower than expected.
To put it simply, because Samsung cannot meet enough 3nm chip output, they can only buy Snapdragon chips from Qualcomm to use on the Galaxy S25 series.
Although there is not much information about the Exynos 2500, it is certain that the switch to exclusively using the Snapdragon chip on the Galaxy S25 will be positively received by users. In recent years, Galaxy S models using Qualcomm chips have always been rated higher thanks to better performance than Exynos variants. The sole use of Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 on the Galaxy S25 promises high and consistent performance.
