Samsung has just released a new software update for the Galaxy S23 series, including the Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra. The update has already started rolling out in Europe, India, and a few other markets.
With the firmware codename S91*BXXS7CXL2, Samsung's January 2025 security patch brings significant security improvements to the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra without introducing any new features. This is not surprising, as the company is preparing to release One UI 7.0 for the series in February 2025 with a host of improvements in both features and interface.
The January 2025 update focuses on addressing critical security vulnerabilities, including multiple issues in the Android operating system and 22 security flaws that only affect Galaxy devices. In addition, errors related to the MediaTek chipset on Android versions 12, 13, and 14 have also been fixed. This is Samsung's effort to ensure users have a safer experience when using the device.
When an update is available, the phone will automatically notify you and you just need to follow the instructions to download it. If you don't want to wait, you can completely access the Settings app, find the Software update section, then click Download and Install. Timely updates not only help the device run smoother but also increase protection against security risks.
