Samsung Foundry may announce its 1nm chip production plans next month during the SAFE Forum event in the US. According to Taiwanese media, the Korean company is also expected to announce plans for mass production of 2nm chips during the event.

Samsung Foundry will hold its annual SAFE Forum in Silicon Valley, USA, from June 12 to 13. During this event, the company is expected to announce its plans for mass production of 1nm and 2nm chips. According to the media, Samsung is planning to accelerate the production of its 1nm chips. Previous reports said its 1nm chip would enter production in 2027. However, the company appears to have decided to push that plan to 2026.

South Korea is trying to take the lead in semiconductor production compared to rival TSMC. However, the company's plan was not successful. Due to heat and performance issues in Samsung's 4nm and 5nm chips, Qualcomm has switched to using TSMC-made chips for most of its smartphone chips.

With a 3nm process using Gate All Around (GAA) transistor architecture, Samsung expects to solve thermal and performance issues. It started mass production of 3nm chips in June 2022 but failed to land any big-name chip customers due to yield-related issues.
