Samsung has just rolled out a new software update for the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, which are also the last devices in the legendary Note series. This update includes the January 2025 security patch, which fixes a series of security vulnerabilities and improves the safety of the device.
Currently, the update has been released for unlocked Galaxy Note 20 variants in the US market, with model numbers SM-N981U1 and SM-N986U1. The corresponding software versions are N981U1UESBHXL1 for the Galaxy Note 20 and N986U1UESBHXL1 for the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.
If you own one of the above devices, Samsung will send an update notification directly to your phone. Just tap the notification, and you can download and install the new software version. If you don't receive a notification, you can still check manually by going to: Settings ยป Software update ยป Download and install.
Samsung is expected to expand the release of the January 2025 security update to other variants of the Galaxy Note 20 globally in the coming days.
