The next generation Galaxy Z series is about to launch. Therefore, it is not surprising that there are more and more rumors and leaks about them. A new piece of information recently helped us know about Samsung's processor strategy for upcoming folding screen phones.

Previous rumors suggested that the Galaxy Z Flip 6 could be Samsung's first foldable phone equipped with an Exynos or Snapdragon processor depending on the region similar to the Galaxy S series.

Another new report has refuted the above rumors. Anonymous sources cited by the Korean publication THEELEC claim that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 will only use Qualcomm's solution. More specifically, both will be equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Mobile Platform for Galaxy globally.

The reason is not because of performance or reliability

According to the report, Samsung's decision has nothing to do with the performance or reliability of the Exynos 2400 processor. Although most people still prefer Qualcomm solutions due to the brand's reputation, The Exynos 2400 isn't far behind the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Regardless of what you think about the Exynos, Samsung's decision to continue using Qualcomm processors exclusively for the Galaxy Z series is purely a matter of cost.

The source said that Samsung's strategy of using one of two processors depending on the region will only benefit the company when it sells enough devices. More specifically, Samsung needs to sell enough phones to offset the costs of developing products on two different platforms: Exynos and Snapdragon.

Even though Samsung's sales of foldable phones have increased every year, they're still not popular enough for the strategy of using either processor depending on region to benefit the company. Therefore, Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 will continue to exclusively use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Mobile Platform for Galaxy.

Samsung will release two upcoming foldable phone models in early July at the Galaxy Unpacked event.
